Brandwatch alternatives for Instagram hashtag monitoring
Published
The right Brandwatch alternative depends on how much of Brandwatch you actually use. If you run research across many networks, news and forums, publish from the same tool and brief influencers from it, nothing cheaper replaces all of that, and you should stay. If your team mostly watches a set of Instagram hashtags and exports what it finds, the realistic Brandwatch alternatives are a self-serve listening tool with a published price, such as Brand24 or Awario, or a per-post feed that delivers the hashtag's posts as rows and charges for nothing else.
This page compares those options on what each vendor publishes on its own pages as of October 2026, and says plainly who should not switch.
The short verdict
| If you need | Pick |
|---|---|
| Research across every major network, with publishing and influencer tools in one suite | Stay with Brandwatch |
| A self-serve listening dashboard with a published price | Brand24 |
| Many hashtags grouped into one view, on a small budget | Awario |
| The posts from one Instagram hashtag, as data you analyse yourself | A per-post hashtag feed |
Who should stay with Brandwatch
Brandwatch is an enterprise suite, and for the teams it is built for, the suite is the point. Its pricing page groups the product into Consumer Intelligence, Social Media Management and Influencer Marketing, and describes the first as a way to "Search the world's largest archive of consumer opinion for market insights".
Stay if any of these describe you:
- You research consumers across many sources at once. Brandwatch's data coverage page lists Facebook, Instagram, X, LinkedIn and more, and says of X that it has "complete firehose and historic access to public Posts". An Instagram-only tool cannot answer a cross-network question.
- You need history on business accounts. Brandwatch's Instagram page says Consumer Research can "monitor extensive historical data of up to 400 days for both owned and non-owned public Instagram Business Accounts".
- Publishing, engagement and influencer work live in the same place. The same page describes scheduling, comment and DM handling, ad management and an influencer search, and the pricing page cites "an influencer database of over 30m creators".
If you use three or more of those modules, the alternatives below are narrower tools, and switching would mean buying several of them. Read on if your real use is a list of hashtags and an export.
What Brandwatch costs, as of October 2026
Brandwatch does not publish a price. Its pricing page, read in October 2026, says:
"With standard to enterprise plans available for each of our solutions, start understanding and engaging with your customers at the speed of social today."
Every plan routes to a "Schedule your free demo" form. So the cost of Brandwatch is whatever your contract says, negotiated per solution. That is normal for enterprise software, and it is also the most common reason a small team starts searching for a Brandwatch alternative: the purchase needs a sales cycle before anyone knows the number.
How Brandwatch describes Instagram hashtags
On its Instagram data page, Brandwatch says Consumer Research lets you "Expand your data collection further by requesting public post data using relevant hashtags on Instagram". For the social media management product it says to "connect and authenticate your own Instagram Business Account and track key hashtags".
Brandwatch's page does not state how many hashtags you can track. Meta's own documentation for the official hashtag search endpoint says:
"You can query a maximum of 30 unique hashtags within a 7 day period"
We have not seen how Brandwatch's collection relates to that endpoint, so treat the hashtag count as a question for your demo rather than a known limit. If your plan depends on following dozens of tags, ask it directly.

Brand24: listening with a price on the page
Brand24 is the nearest self-serve replacement for the listening part of Brandwatch. It covers web and social sources from one account, with sentiment and AI analysis, and you can buy it without talking to anyone.
From brand24.com's pricing page, October 2026:
| Plan | Monthly | Per month, billed annually | Mentions / mo |
|---|---|---|---|
| Individual | $249 | $199 | 2K |
| Team | $349 | $299 | 10k |
| Pro | $499 | $399 | 40K |
| Business | $699 | $599 | 100K |
| Enterprise | from $1499 | from $1499 | custom |
There is a free 14-day trial, and API access is listed as "Available at an additional fee $149". Brand24 prices by keyword, and each hashtag you follow is a keyword, so a long tag list pushes you up the tiers quickly. The detail is in our Brand24 alternatives page.
Awario: many hashtags in one topic
Awario suits a team whose Brandwatch use was a long list of tags feeding a few reports. Its pricing unit is the topic, and in Awario's words:
"A topic is a keyword or group of keywords you are monitoring, such as your brand, a competitor, or a set of industry keywords. Every topic can contain unlimited keywords."
It adds that keywords "can be plain text, social media handles, hashtags, or URLs".
From awario.com's pricing page, October 2026, where the yearly option is labelled "Save up to 40%":
| Plan | Monthly | Per month, billed annually | New mentions / mo | Stored per topic |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | $49 | $29 | 30,000 | 5,000 |
| Pro | $149 | $89 | 300,000 | 15,000 |
| Enterprise | $399 | $249 | 1,000,000 | 50,000 |
The trade is the stored cap. Awario's FAQ says that "Once the limit of mentions' history is reached, Awario will replace the oldest mentions with newly found ones", so on a busy tag older results drop out unless you export them. Mentions export to CSV. We compare Awario and Brand24 directly in Brand24 vs Awario.
A per-post hashtag feed: when you want the posts themselves
The last option is the one this site sells, and it fits one kind of reader: somebody who was using Brandwatch to collect Instagram hashtag posts and then did the real analysis elsewhere, in a spreadsheet, a BI tool or a notebook.
- You pay per delivered post. $0.0005 per post, flat. No subscription, no per-run fee, and a scheduled check that finds nothing new costs nothing.
- A real date window.
onlyPostsNewerThanstops the run when the feed reaches your date, andonlyPostsOlderThanbounds the other end, so a campaign week costs a week of rows. - An exact limit. Ask for 500 posts and 500 is the most you are billed for.
- Every row has the same fields. Shortcode, URL, publish time, caption, hashtags, like and comment counts, owner username, media type and cover image URL. A count that could not be read comes back as
null, never as a misleading0. The output page lists them.
Be clear about what it does not do. One hashtag per run, recent posts rather than deep history, no comments, no profiles, no other networks, no dashboards, no alerts and no sentiment. It also needs a session cookie from an Instagram account you control, because Instagram serves hashtag feeds only to signed-in requests. The limits page says all of this in one place.
Ten thousand posts in a month is $5.00. That figure is not comparable with a Brandwatch contract, because it buys only the rows. If rows are what you were exporting, it is the smallest thing that replaces that export.
For other ways to get the same data, see Instagram hashtag tracker options and Instagram social listening from a spreadsheet.
Which Brandwatch alternative fits which job
- A PR or insights team answering questions across networks: stay with Brandwatch. None of the tools here cover the same ground.
- A social team that wants listening without a sales cycle: Brand24, starting on a trial.
- An agency watching dozens of client hashtags on a budget: Awario, grouping each client's tags into one topic.
- An analyst or researcher who needs the posts in a table: a per-post feed, with the analysis done in your own tools.
How to switch away from Brandwatch
- Export before the contract ends. Save the dashboards, reports and mention exports you will want later, because history usually goes with the account.
- List what you really use. Write down each query, which hashtags feed it and who reads the output. If the list is only Instagram hashtags and exports, one of the smaller tools covers it.
- Run the replacement in parallel. Brand24 and Awario both offer trials, and a per-post feed charges only for rows, so compare coverage on the same tags for a week.
- Check the renewal terms. Enterprise contracts often renew automatically. Read the renewal clause before you plan the switch date.
- Move one workflow at a time. Start with the report the fewest people depend on.
If the answer is that you only needed the posts, start with one hashtag and a small limit, and look at the rows before you schedule anything.
Summary
Brandwatch earns its price when a team uses it as a suite: research across networks, business-account history, publishing and influencer work in one contract. For Instagram hashtag monitoring on its own, Brand24 gives you listening with a published price, Awario fits the most hashtags into the least money, and a per-post feed replaces the export with a meter. Pick by the job you actually do.
